Hibs player ratings vs Hearts as Elie Youan struggles as fourth slips away and Celtic favour needed

Hibs were unable to overcome a spirited ten-man Hearts as they failed to leapfrog their capital rivals on a tense last day of the season.

A blockbuster derby saw the two Edinburgh giants going head to head with a guaranteed place in Europe at stake. And Hibs will feel that they missed a huge opportunity to grab a first win at Tynecastle since 2019, after throwing everything at it.

Hibs endured a nightmare start after finding themselves down to Oda's early strike. The Easter Road side rallied and the game turned on its head just on the half hour mark. Kevin Nisbet played through Chris Cadden who was brought down by Alex Cochrane. The foul was upgraded to a red card after a VAR call and Nisbet stepped up to fire home the free-kick.

Hibs then took control of the contest, with Johnson throwing everything at it. Half time changes saw Harry McKirdy, Ewan Henderson. Josh Campbell joined shortly after as Hibs went for the win that would see them overtake their rivals. Despite creating a handful of chances Hibs were unable to overcome an inspiring performance from Hearts keeper Clark. And despite 100 minutes of football played were unable to find the winner. Here is how we rated Hibs as they ultimately came up short.el

David Marshall - 6

Caught out for Hearts opener. Overall a quiet day for the Hibs captain.

Lewis Miller - 6

Should have put his side in front after winning a free header in the box. Subbed in second half.

Paul Hanlon - 6

Strong display from the experienced centre back. Two massive chances to put his side in front but denied by Clark. Looked the most likely to get a winner.

Will Fish - 7

Enjoyed a resurgence since his last appearance at Tynecaslte. Whilst that game was littered with mistakes this showing was calm and composed. Johnson would be wise to take another punt on the Manchester United man for next season.

Lewis Stevenson - 6

Received a first half booking after an elbow on Oda. Controlled display form there on snuffing out threats from Ginelly. Subbed on 55 minutes for Marijan Čabraja.

Jake Doyle-Hayes - 5

Booked after a crunching tackle on Barry McKay early on. The battling midfield showed his steel. Limped off in the second half after shoulder injury.

Joe Newell - 6

Missed a fantastic chance to put his side into the lead with his effort finely stopped by Zander Clark. Steady performance in the middle of the park.

Jimmy Jeggo - 4

Subbed at half time as Lee Johnson made a double change. Replaced by Henderson.

Chris Cadden - 7

Brought back into the fold for this huge game and was a key component of the Hibs side. Was powering through on goal before being fouled by Alex Cochrane in the moment that changed the game. Cadden was stretchered off after a clash in the box after the hour mark.

Kevin Nisbet - 7

Quiet in the opening exchanges but came to life to bring Hibs back into it. His flick on to Cadden led to the foul that resulted in Hearts going down to ten men. Nisbet then stepped up and curled a fine finish past Clark.

Elie Youan - 5

Star man midweek but failed to provide any sort of impact against a depleted Hearts side. A poor showing.

Ewan Henderson - 5

Brought on at half time as part of a double switch to bring more energy and creative spark to Hibs. Helped keep the pressure on.

Harry McKirdy - 4

Brought on for a creative spark but never got a grip of the game. Struggled to force the issue for Hibs. Had his chance in the dying minutes but fired over the bar.

Josh Campbell - 3

Thrown on as one of the many second half subs. Posseses a goal threat but couldn't help his side today.

Marijan Čabraja - 4

Another sub made my Johnson as he came on to replace counterpart Stevenson. Spent more time in attack than defence. Caught on the break as the game became stretched.

Allan Delferrière - 4

Handed his first appearance for Hibs in a chaotic derby. Struggled to make an impact.
