Hibs owner Ron Gordon vows to back Lee Johnson with 'resource and investment'

Hibs owner Ron Gordon has vowed to back new boss Lee Johnson in the summer transfer market.

The 40-year-old was officially named as Shaun Maloney's successor yesterday after penning a long-term deal at the club.

Ex-Celtic and Scotland international Maloney only lasted four months in the job after taking over the reigns from Jack Ross.

Gordon wants stability at Easter Road and admits he would love nothing more than his new man to be at Hibs for the duration of his contract and beyond.

He said: “We want success and that has to come with a commitment on our part from a resource and investment perspective.

“We’re making all kinds of investment to grow the club and take it to the next level.

“We certainly need to do that on the pitch.

“If you look at Lee’s track record it’s quite outstanding. Almost every club he’s left in a better place than the day he arrived.

“We definitely want stability. I’d love for him to be here four years and longer. It would mean we are doing things right, we’re having success.

“It’s hard to build a top notch organisation if the floor is moving and that’s what we’ve had on the football side a little bit.

“Hopefully this will stabilise the club and we’re on our way to greener pastures.”
