A TUI co-pilot has been hailed a "hero" after hauling suitcases onto a delayed flight so it could finally take off.
Passenger Jenny Cook told the BBC she was on a delayed flight to Crete from Manchester Airport. She is calling for the pilot, whose name is Simon, to receive an "excellence award" after he was filmed lifting luggage onto the conveyor belt beneath the plane on Monday.
She said: "We were all cheering. Simon had gone above and beyond." It comes as more than 30,000 TUI passengers are set to have their Manchester Airport flights cancelled to tackle staff shortages, Manchester Evening News reports.
