A Scots man prevented a bride from missing her own wedding after her taxi ended up being a no-show.
Bill Sneddon had been staying at the Edinburgh Park Travelodge over the weekend when he got chatting to a wedding party outside, but little did the 66-year-old know he would be coming to their aide just minutes later.
Originally from the capital, Bill - who now lives in Lincolnshire - had been in the city to attend a family gathering when he clocked the bridal party near his accommodation on Saturday July 16, reports Edinburgh Live.
The man struck up a conversation with the bride, Courtney, and her father, Chris, while Courtney's bridesmaids piled into a pre-booked taxi and headed to the ceremony, with her car due to arrive soon after.
However, despite booking the taxis months prior, the car failed to turn up. Courtney made a number of panicked calls to the operator, and was told the vehicle was 'on the way'.
But as the bride realised she was now late for her own wedding, Bill was able to jump into action and save the day by taking the pair in his own car.
He said: "I was outside and I saw them, the bride her father and the bridesmaids. I had said how smashing they looked and we were chatting when a taxi arrived at 1.50pm.
"The bridesmaids got in and off they went and the other taxi was also supposed to come at the same time, because the wedding was at 2pm, so they had phoned and were told it was on the way.
"But then another ten minutes passed and it still wasn't there, so they phoned again and got told it would be there soon. Then they said it will be another five minutes and it still hadn't come."
With guests and the rest of the bridal party waiting at the venue, Bill drove the Courtney and Chris to the Corn Exchange, where she would be tying the knot.
Arriving half an hour late but avoiding missing the whole thing altogether, Bill said it was only as he was saying goodbye to the pair that Courtney's phone rang to say an eventual taxi had now arrived at the hotel.
He added: "I just said why don't I give you both a lift in my car, it's clean and I'll take you there. So I took them, her father actually tried to pay me and of course I said no, but instead I got a picture of the bride and myself to remember it."
