A woman has died after a house fire in south London.
The blaze ripped through the first floor of a two-storey building in Lambeth early this morning.
Around 25 firefighters were dispatched to the scene in Railton Road shortly after 4am and a woman was rescued from inside.
However, she was quickly pronounced dead.
Two men had vacated the mid-terraced property without injury prior to the fire brigade arriving.
It took nearly an hour for the fire to be brought under control.
Half of the first floor of the house was completely destroyed by the fire.
The cause is being investigated by London Fire Brigade.

The woman who died has not been identified.
A spokesperson for LFB said: "Sadly a woman has died in a house fire on Railton Road in Lambeth this morning.
"Firefighters tackled a fire at a mid-terraced, two-storey house where half of the first floor was completely destroyed by the fire.
"Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman from the first floor of the property, sadly she died at the scene.
"Two men managed to leave the property before the Brigade arrived and did not sustain any injuries.
"The Brigade was called at 4.08am and four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended, the fire was under control by 5.03am.
"Fire crews from Acton, Clapham, Peckham and West Norwood fire stations attended the scene."
A section of Railton Road between Kellett Road and Effra Parada is closed.
Traffic is coping well in the area and there is a diversion in place for the bus route 322.
