Hermes who deliver for M&S, Next and John Lewis rebranding after gaining poor reputation

Hermes Group has announced that it will be rebranding and changing its name to Evri. The huge change will mean that retailers such as Marks and Spencer, ASOS, John Lewis and Next will all be conducting their deliveries under the newly re-branded company.

The courier giant was founded on June 1, 1972, and quickly became known for offering cheap parcel delivery and free return services. However, in recent years the brand has seen a huge decline in its delivery service with many people complaining about poor customer service.

Money-saving expert Martin Lewis said it's "interesting to see Hermes (that came second bottom in our poll of 17 delivery firms) is rebranding itself Evri. Let's (charitably) hope this is because it believes it can be a better firm and does indeed do a better job, and therefore wants to draw a line under past reputation."

The rebrand means that a new logo is being released across the UK, alongside a brand new website, and ultimately a new reputation.

Hermes Group is reportedly changing its name to Evri in hopes of getting a better reputation for the company, according to The Times. To start on a new slate, the service group have said that it will invest £7mannually in employee pensions.

Evri will introduce rights to maternity and paternity leave for the self-employed plus (SE+) couriers, PA reported. Through the new deal, couriers will receive legitimate retirement plans.

Chief executive officer of Hermes, Martijn de Lange, gave a statement: "When we first announced our SE+ model in 2019 we committed to continuing to develop our support for our self-employed couriers and we are proud to have been true to that and be leading the industry once again. Our couriers receive guaranteed pay rates, paid holiday and now a pension but have also been able to retain the flexibility that so many treasure, fitting in their deliveries alongside their other, often family, commitments.

"This rebrand follows significant investment and two years of dramatic growth which has resulted in our entire business going through a major transformation programme. It is more than just a name change – it is a statement of intent of our commitment to leading the way in creating responsible delivery experiences for 'Evri one', 'Evri where'."

He added: "It heralds a new culture and an even better way of doing things in an ever-evolving world, building on our achievements and successes."
