On Monday, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien praised rookie quarterback Malik Cunningham, who continues to work through a crowded room.
New England is currently experiencing instability at the quarterback position, but O’Brien would not comment on Cunningham’s starting potential.
Cunningham made an impression during the preseason. He has yet to start a game for the organization, but he did make an appearance in the team’s loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on October 15. His athleticism and speed provide intrigue, as New England needs a spark from the position. He showed flashes of what he could do in the preseason by carrying the ball six times for 39 yards and a touchdown.
“Malik has done a really good job. …. Assistant coaches make recommendations, and head coaches make decisions,” said O’Brien, via the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan.
Bill O'Brien asked about Malik Cunningham's potential to start at QB, again refers to Belichick.

Playing time for Cunningham could be important with the Patriots organization needing to assess player value for the future of the franchise. It will be interesting to see where Cunningham falls in that regard.
