This is why GOBankingRates consulted with travel experts to compile a list of the cheapest countries readers can visit this year. We will include the dollar amounts for how much they’ll cost each day for a five-day trip.

Albania

“Albania is one of the best budget destinations for travel in Europe, especially the stunning Albanian Riviera, and the capital city Tirana,” remarked Brian Raffio, a senior adventure travel consultant at Climbing Kilimanjaro and Tanzania Safarise

He noted that you can stay at guesthouses and boutique hostels for $20 to $35 per night and that meals will range from $5 to $10. The overall daily budget is about $50 to $70, with transportation costing around $10 if you plan to take cabs.

Bolivia

Raffio shared that Bolivia has some of the lowest prices in South America, along with some of the most beautiful attractions, such as the Uyuni Salt Flats, the Andes and many more. The average cost of hostels and hotels ranges from $12 to $25 per night; food costs $3 to $7; transport costs under $10; and, in total, daily expenses range from $35 to $55.

Georgia

Georgia is a European country and home to great mountains, fantastic vineyards and historical cities, according to Raffio. You can find guesthouses and budget hotels from $20 to $40, meals for $6 to $10 at inexpensive restaurants, and there’s cheap intercity transportation. A budget of $45 to $65 per day is realistic in this part of Western Europe.

Tanzania

“As a budget traveler in 2026, you can comfortably explore Tanzania on a roughly $60 per day budget for a five-day trip,” noted Alex Andreichuk, a travel expert and CEO at Altezza Travel. While the total cost of the trip will depend on where you choose to stay and how you want to spend your time, you can still get by without spending a fortune

The average cost of a budget accommodation is around $30 per person per night, and healthy meals will cost around $8 to $12. Andreichuk found that most travelers spend between $15 and $25 per day on food. The largest expense is often day trips, which can range from $30 to $200. Public transportation will cost anywhere from $0.50 to $5 per day, so you don’t have to worry about this expense.

Vietnam

Norm Bour, a travel expert and founder of Travel Younger, noted that while a flight to Vietnam can be long and expensive, you’ll spend much less at your destination. He pointed out that you can spend around $20 or less per day on lodging, $15 per day on food, and that transportation is also inexpensive (under $10) if you want to get around the country.

If you’re looking to travel on a budget in 2026, you’ll want to explore one of the options on this list.
