Henry de Bromhead targeting Kerry National success with two runners in €200,000 Listowel contest

Henry de Bromhead will be doubly represented in the €200,000 Kerry National at Listowel on Wednesday afternoon.

The Waterford trainer runs Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase winner Gabbys Cross and Gin On Lime, who was last seen finishing 12th behind Hewick in the Galway Plate.

Rachael Blackmore will once again partner Gabbys Cross, while Darragh O'Keefe will be on board Gin On Lime in the three-mile race at 4.20pm.

Victory for either runner would provide de Bromhead with a poignant win, with the race taking place 65 kilometres from Rossbeigh Strand where the trainer's son Jack tragically lost his life earlier this month.

The 13-year-old died following a fall in a pony race at the Glenbeigh Festival on September 3.

De Bromhead registered his first winner since Jack's tragic death when Ingenious Stroke won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners’ Chase at Downpatrick last Friday.

The six-year-old came home a length winner over Final Orders and an emotional Blackmore acknowledged the ongoing sense of loss.

She said: ” “He did it really well, he ran around a bit at the end.

“It is great to get but obviously winners don’t feel the same now.

“We are all thinking of Jack.”
