Richie Myler was in for a surprise when he returned to the rugby field for the first time since his separation from Helen Skelton.
Rival fans began heckling the Leeds Rhinos fullback as he made his first appearance on the pitch in three months.
He had not played in that time due to an abductor injury in the first game of the season, YorkshireLive reports.
The Leeds side suffered a brutal 23-8 defeat against the Salford team, who had lost their previous six games, not winning one since they last played Leeds in March.
But for Myler the afternoon took an even worse turn as rival fans began heckling him throughout the match.
Just after half time he was involved in an altercation with a Red Devils player, prompting a stream of chants.
The most notable was a show of support for his wife as they sang 'There's only one Helen Skelton'.
Myler is understood to now be in a new relationship with Stephanie Thirkhill, the daughter of the club's President, Andrew.
Salford fans went on to goad Myler as his side was defeated, chanting at him about the score as the hosts went on to win.
Myler has enjoyed quite the career, winning two Challenge Cup Finals, the Lance Todd trophy and he has previously played for England.
