According to oddsmakers, the 2023 Heisman Trophy race looks like a forgone conclusion.
Following No. 3 Washington’s Pac-12 championship game win over No. 5 Oregon on Friday in Las Vegas, bettors witnessed a seismic move at top of the betting odds to win the hardware.
Prior to the Pac-12 showdown, Bo Nix was a -150 favorite. However following the Ducks’ loss, the market for Oregon’s star signal-caller is now listed at +1500.
Sitting in the top perch is LSU’s Jayden Daniels who is now listed as the prohibitive favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at odds of -1450.
Washington’s Michael Penix, who was +2000 prior to the Pac-12 title game, now sits at +900.
In 2023, Daniels completed 72.2% of passes for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns while adding 1,134 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on the ground for the Tigers.
The 2023 Walter Camp Player of the Year winner, joined previous Heisman Trophy winners Joe Burrow (63), Tim Tebow (55), Cam Newton (51) and Bryce Young (50) as the only players in SEC history to account for 50 total touchdowns in a season.
