Hearts' Sammy Silvera transfer bid 'rejected' as Central Coast Mariners hold out for asking price

Hearts will have to up the ante for Sammy Silvera after having an opening six-figure offer booted out, according to a report.

The Central Coast Mariners star has big interest from Asia and the English Championship and have already rejected a number of offers for their prized asset because all interested clubs have failed to meet their asking price claim the Daily Record.

The Jambos are believed to remain at the table to look to get a deal done having enjoyed a decent relationship with the A-League side after a previous dealing with the club when they signed Australia World Cup star Kye Rowles last season. Cammy Devlin and Nathaniel Atkinson are the two other Aussies on the books of the capital while Garang Kuol also had a loan stint in Gorgie.

Australia sources claim they expect Silvera to be sold during the summer window and the Record claim Hearts director of football Joe Savage is working on a deal to get the 22-year-old to Scotland. He netted eight goals and provided six assists in all competitions last season and have previous experience of playing in Europe in Portugal.

His addition at Tynecastle would add more attacking intent to Steven Naismith's squad with the youngster believed to be keen to break into the Socceroos' squad with a move overseas seen as a way to strengthen his case.

Silvera is said to be the top choice for Hearts but they are also keeping close tabs on Japanese winger Kanji Okunuki - who would cost around £400,000.

Riku Handa from Gamba Osaka is another of interest with discussions said to have taken place over a potential transfer with the Jambos preferring a loan with an option.
