The heartbroken family of a Scots diver who died after getting into difficulty in the water has paid tribute to a 'much-loved family man'.
Les Elder, 45, tragically died after the incident near Kinghorn Beach in Fife at 9.55am on Sunday, during an organised scuba dive on the Scots coastline.
A multi-emergency response was called to the area after the alarm was raised by a nearby dive boat.
The Coastguard helicopter, specialist diving units, ambulance crews and police officers were drafted in to the rescue operation.
Les was recovered from the water but sadly passed away a short time after.
His devastated family issued a statement through Police Scotland, saying: "Les was a much loved family man and will be missed by everyone who knew him.”
A police spokesperson added: "The incident was reported to police at 9.55am and Mr Elder was recovered from the water but died a short time later.
"As with all sudden deaths, a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
