The father of schoolgirl Ana Kriegel, who was brutally murdered by two Satan-obsessed boys, has died.
Ana's dad, Patrick Kriegel, formerly of Paris, died at home in Leixlip, Co Kildare on Sunday (June 19), Dublin Live reports.
Ana, 14, was killed by two boys, aged 13 at the time, who lured her to an abandoned house on the outskirts of Dublin, in May 2018.
The pair became the youngest murderers ever convicted in Ireland, after Ana's body was discovered with a ligature around her neck.
The sick pair had viewed 'Satanic' material before tricking Ana into meeting them, believing she was meeting a boy she liked.
The youngster had been relentlessly bullied and was desperate to make friends, often posting videos of herself dancing.
But by the time her mum had realised she was missing and went out to look for her 45 minutes later, she was already dead.
One boy sexually assaulted Ana, while the other watched, and inflicted so many injuries on her that she was discovered with 50 wounds across her head and body.
She was discovered at the abandoned house in Luncan, Dublin, three days later, having died of a blunt force trauma to the head.
During a long trial, the jury heard that police found a book with a "satanic pledge" in one of the boy's home.
It referenced a "satanist cult" and had a number of "cult rules", the court heard.
The jury were also shown evidence including Ana's blood stained clothes, underwear, and a long wooden stick and concrete block removed from the scene.
After the verdict, Ana's parents, Patrick and Geraldine Kriegel hugged each other and their friends and wept in the court room.
Now her father's funeral service will take place on Thursday 23 June at Newlands Cross Crematorium at 2pm.
A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Patrick Kriegel, Leixlip Co Kildare and formerly of Paris, France, June 12 (peacefully) at home. Beloved husband of Geraldine and dear father of the late Anastasia (Ana).
"Sadly missed by his loving wife, Aaron, Bruno, Nathalie, Phillippe and all of his loving family and friends."
