Jermaine Defoe says West Ham star and Manchester United target Declan Rice reminds him of Reds icon Michal Carrick.
The Hammers skipper has risen to the fore in recent seasons. He has become a key player for David Moyes' side and also staked his claim as one of the first names on the teamsheet at international level with England.
United are looking to add reinforcements in the middle of the pitch and have already identified the 23-year-old as a potential option. The West Ham boss has previously claimed the midfielder could cost in excess of £150m.

"The way he's playing and what he (Declan Rice) has, he reminds me of Michael Carrick a little bit," he said speaking to Sky Sports. "The way he handles the ball, what he's got more than Carrick had was driving forward and getting the team forward more.
"He said before (that) he's a massive Yaya Toure fan, you can tell, the way Yaya used to run through the middle. He's got all the attributes but you need to add goals - he probably knows that.
"He's someone who wants to work on that game, he seems a top boy and a good character. For me, he's got everything to go right to the top."
