'He can make it work...': Australia coach Andrew McDonald indicates Steve Smith to persist as opener

NEW DELHI: Australia's cricket coach, Andrew McDonald, has hinted that Steve Smith is likely to continue as an opener, "at least until the home series against India later this year," despite scrutiny over his recent performances in that role.

India are slated to visit Australia between November this year and January 2025 to defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a contest they have retained in the 2018-19 and 2020-21 series.
