American actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in television shows such as Heroes and Nashville , died last month at the age of 36. Her death came just weeks before her 37th birthday. At the time, authorities did not disclose a cause of death. Now, however, reports citing multiple law enforcement sources claim Panettiere may have died after taking a single pill that was believed to be oxycodone but allegedly contained fentanyl.
According to TMZ, Panettiere had apparently met with her longtime drug dealer in Los Angeles before traveling to South Carolina. She died there on August 16 in what authorities suspect may have been an overdose. The sources cited by the outlet claimed that Panettiere appeared to have taken only one pill on the day of her death. They alleged that the pill was fatal because it had been contaminated with fentanyl, a highly potent synthetic opioid.
