While Hawaii is known for its beaches and tropical weather, a recent report shows that there is more to Hawaii's residents being content and happy than just its beaches. WalletHub claims Hawaii to be the happiest state in the US in 2026 and has put it above states like New Jersey, Utah, Idaho and Maryland on the list. The list analyses 50 US states on 30 different indicators, including mental and physical well-being, work environment, financial condition, relationships, safety and community.
According to USA TODAY, the research was published against the background of a low level of satisfaction among the general population in the United States. WalletHub referred to data from the Gallup survey and found that only 44% of people in the US feel "very satisfied" with their lives.
