Long queues and waiting times caused by the EU Entry-Exit System (EES) are starting to deter people from travelling, ACI Europe, Europe’s airport trade body, has said.
ACI Europe director general Olivier Jankovec told Travel Weekly that fixing the Schengen Entry-Exit System must be “Europe’s immediate priority”.
In July, Andy Burnham was urged to lobby EU leaders directly to suspend the new entry-exit system, EES, as the peak weekend for overseas holidays began.
The Liberal Democrats’ foreign affairs spokesperson, Calum Miller, said the prime minister needed to call on EU states to drop the “bungled, malfunctioning border system” until at least September.

We’d also like to hear from people who have used the Travel to Europe mobile app designed for non-EU travellers who are subject to EES registration. The app allows people to pre-register their passport data and facial image within 72 hours before entering or leaving a European country. The app is designed to speed up border checks and is currently operating in Sweden and Portugal.
