'Hated Liverpool' - Jonjoe Kenny makes Merseyside derby admission after Everton transfer

Former Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny has said the Old Firm derby between Celtic and Rangers is bigger than the Merseyside derby and admitted he has ‘hated Liverpool’ since he was young.

Kenny moved to Hertha Berlin in June after rejecting a new three-year contract at Goodison Park. The full-back, 25, came through the academy at Everton and was out of contract at the end of last season. After two loan spells away from the club during the past two years at Schalke and Celtic, he made 21 appearances in all competitions across the campaign for the Blues. Kenny joined the club as a nine-year-old and made 68 appearances before deciding to return to Germany after the successful spell at Schalke earlier in his career.

And his new team, Hertha Berlin, who are managed by Sandro Schwarz, face arch rivals Union Berlin in a local derby to start the new campaign. Kenny has plenty of experience of rivalries, having played in the Celtic-Rangers and Everton-Liverpool derby games so far in his career.
