Harry Styles heaps praise on Scouser as he's recruited to lead next step in popstar's career

Harry Styles has heaped praise on a Liverpool fashion designer who he has recruited to lead the next step in his career.

The One Direction star has appointed Shaun Kearney to be the first Chief Executive Officer of his lifestyle brand, Pleasing. Shaun grew up in Whiston and has forged a remarkable career in the fashion industry as he has gone on to design outfits for Hollywood stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie.

He was most recently Chief Merchandising Officer for Goop working for Gwyneth Paltrow but has now left the position to take Harry's brand to the next level. The popstar lauded Shaun's ability as he announced his appointment.

He said: "We are delighted to have Shaun join the Pleasing team. His exceptional vision and extensive experience will be invaluable as we enter the next chapter of Pleasing."

Harry's beauty line already offers a variety of products such as nail polishes and merchandise. Shaun can't wait to take the brand to the next level as he aims to expand its offering.

He said: "We have a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s lives and expand our product offering through many different lifestyle verticals and multiple channels of business." Shaun is proud of his Merseyside roots and is still active in inspiring the next generation in the city through his role as co-founder of Rare School of Fashion and Art.

The school is based in the city centre and Shaun was inspired to set up Rare as he found not enough working class students were breaking through into an industry he branded "elitist".

He previously told the ECHO: "To be from a working class background in the luxury sector meant I had to really prove myself. One time someone said to me when they found out where I was from 'how can someone from a working class background possibly understand luxury?'

The designer explained how Liverpool is the perfect breeding ground for talented students and has faith the next generation of fashion hopefuls can follow in his footsteps to achieve great success. He said: "Liverpool has always been a trailblazer for music, art, fashion and film.

"People really do have each other's backs and it's because the city has weathered so many changes and gone through so much where they had to go the extra mile to have a voice. There's a drive and I know my drive comes from being from there. A drive that people have that's just really unique."
