Harry Kane has revealed he is on the brink of signing a new contract to stay at Bayern Munich.
The England captain is in the last season of the four-year deal he signed when he joined the German champions from Tottenham in 2023 for £86m.
And rather than returning to the Premier League, where he is only 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s record, the 33-year-old is talking about a new deal with Bayern and confident it will be agreed soon.
He said: “We're in good talks. We're fairly close. There's still some things that we need to iron out. I'm happy there. I think it won't be too long before there's some sort of announcement.”
Kane, who said his family are happy to stay in Bavaria, has scored 152 goals in 154 games for Bayern and believes that remaining in Germany will help extend his career.
He explained: “I feel really comfortable in the team, with the coach, the environment. I want to just be at this level and push this level for as long as possible. Especially, as you're getting a bit older, if you don't have a great season somewhere, or you don't play as well, the drop-off is maybe more than what it would have been when you're younger.
“So it's just about extracting as much as I can, with the boss there, with the players I have in the team, I think they're getting the best out of me. I'm helping them as well."
