Fans of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are fuming after a royal expert's "vile" joke about their son Prince Archie.
Robert Jobson suggested the three-year-old be dangled over the Buckingham Palace balcony the same way Michael Jackson notoriously did with his son Blanket.
The late King of Pop held the newborn out of the window of the president's suite on the fifth floor of Hotel Adlon in Berlin in November 2002.
It caused outrage at the time, with Jackson forced to apologise.
He said he was simply overexcited.
"I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children," Jackson said.
King Charles' Coronation on May 6 coincides with his grandson Archie's fourth birthday.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to be on the guest list, though it is unclear if they and their son and one-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, will attend.
During a televised chat on TalkTV, the conversation moved towards the traditional gathering of the royals on the balcony overlooking the Mall.
The King and central members of the Firm are set to appear there after the ceremony at Westminster Abbey to watch the procession.
Jobson joked that Charles would blow out Archie's birthday candles and then held his hands out in imitation and referred to "that Michael Jackson thing where they hold him over..."
The "tasteless" jibe has not gone down well.
One commenter called Myra, who has #Sussexsquad and "Meghan and Harry updates account" in her bio, said the joke was "vile".
"Hearing King Charles' biographer boldly state that Prince Archie should be held over the Buckingham Palace balcony during the coronation is vile..." she wrote.
Freelance writer R.S. Locke said: "Robert Jobson thinks it would be funny to dangle Archie over the balcony.
"Eammon Holmes wants Harry & Meghan thrown off it.
"Jeremy Kyle wants Meghan thrown down a well.
" Jeremy Clarkson wants Meghan paraded naked & feces thrown at her. Calls for violence are growing louder."
Musician Stella Parton said the joke was "tasteless" and admitted she "couldn't believe it" when she heard the remark.
She wrote: "Was anyone else shocked by the British media making such a tasteless joke about Harry and Meghan’s son Archie being put over the balcony at the Coronation?
"These are evil people! I couldn’t believe it when I heard it!"
While freelancer Lorna said she can't recall a time when someone in the media has joked about any of Prince William and Kate Middleton's children "in this distasteful manner".
She wrote: "Trying to recall a time when reporters have "joked" about Princes George & Louis & Princess Charlotte in this distasteful manner.
"I'm failing. From Danny Baker to Julie Burchill to Robert Jobson-the way Harry and Meghan's kids are dehumanised by members of our media revolts me."
It comes after reports suggest King Charles has set himself a strict 6pm bedtime curfew the night before his Coronation to ensure he isn't too tired for the ceremony.
More than 2,000 people are expected to pack into Westminster Abbey for the ceremony before the royals watch a parred back procession from the Palace balcony.
Reports yesterday suggested Harry and Meghan want to be part of the "special family moment" when royals gather.
Leaked plans suggest all three of Prince and Kate's children will attend the coronation.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will join their grandfather and the Queen Consort Camilla as they leave the Abbey.
Second-in-line to the throne, George, nine, has long been expected to attend the coronation, though it is not known whether he will have a role to play.
However, it has not been known until now whether Charlotte, seven, would be there, nor Louis, who turns five next month.
