Harris Keeps Growing List of Republican Endorsements With Three New Hampshire Leaders

With less than a week to go until Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris is continuing to grow her list of Republican endorsements. They come from New Hampshire this time, as three longtime party leaders who supported former president Donald Trump and rival Nikki Haley in the primaries announced they would be voting for Harris.

Former U.S. Congressman and former New Hampshire Supreme Court Justice Chuck Douglas, former U.S. Senator Gordon Humphrey and former New Hampshire Attorney General Thomas Rath announced they would be voting for the Vice President next Tuesday. They also condemned Trump as a divisive and unstable candidate.

"I voted Republican for fifty years, but I'm voting against Donald Trump and I plea all Republicans to do the same," Humphrey said. "As a father, a grandfather, a veteran, and a former United States Senator, I cannot vote for Trump. He's dangerous to our democracy."

Likewise, Douglas questioned Trump's intentions should he win the White House, saying the former president "believes in himself over service" and views the election "as the chance to jail his political opponents." By comparison, he said, Harris would be a "steady hand at the ship of the state."

Rath also denounced Trump's "campaign of division, anger, thinly veiled prejudice, and rejection of our core values as a nation."

The endorsements come as New Hampshire has seen a 47% increase in registered Republican volunteers compared to 2022 and a 76% increase in the number of GOP voters who have told canvassers they plan to vote for Democrats on Election Day, Fox News reports.

But despite the long list of Republican endorsements for Harris, the Trump campaign is staying silent on the matter, instead deciding to turn the conversation to former Democrats like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, both of whom have been previous controversial figures and had a tumultuous relationship with the party.

"President Trump is building a historic and diverse movement to make America great again," Trump national press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News when asked for comment. "He's been endorsed by many respected leaders from Nikki Haley to RFK Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard. We welcome anyone who wants to secure our border, restore law and order, and end inflation to join our team."

The Harris campaign has constantly used Republican support for her on ads and across social media. Former Rep. Liz Cheney has been among the most vocal GOP personalities for the Harris campaign, even going to events with her as a way to put "country over party," as those rallies have been called.

Most recently, actor and former Republican governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and daughter of former president George W. Bush, Barbara Bush, have endorsed Harris.

In a statement, Bush said she was "hopeful after speaking to so many voters about the important issues at stake in this election, including protecting women's rights.

Schwarzenegger, similarly, said he put his country over being a Republican, criticizing Trump for dividing the country.

"To someone like me who talks to people all over the world and still knows America is the shining city on a hill, calling America a trash can for the world is so unpatriotic, it makes me furious. And I will always be an American before I am a Republican. That's why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz," the actor said in a post on X.
