Harris And Trump In Tight Race As Campaigns Enter Final Week

Donald Trump Former U.S. President Trump hosts a campaign rally, in Rome, Georgia

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are embroiled in a tightly contested race as they enter the final full week of the 2024 campaign. Both candidates, along with their running mates and top surrogates, are crisscrossing battleground states crucial to determining the outcome of the election.

Battleground Blitz

Harris and her running mate Tim Walz are set to visit all seven battleground states this week. Harris will kick off the week with campaign events in Saginaw and Macomb, Michigan, focusing on plans to boost American manufacturing. A rally in Ann Arbor featuring singer Maggie Rogers is also on the agenda. Walz will campaign in Wisconsin with stops in Manitowoc and Waukesha.

Harris is scheduled to deliver a significant address at the Ellipse in Washington on Tuesday evening, where she will make the case against Trump's leadership. She will continue her campaign trail in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin on Wednesday, followed by rallies in Nevada and Arizona on Thursday.

Trump holds rallies in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, emphasizing economic messaging.

Meanwhile, Trump, after a fiery rally at Madison Square Garden, is heading to Georgia for a faith summit and an evening rally in Atlanta. His campaign will focus on Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in the upcoming days, with an event in Green Bay alongside former Packers quarterback Brett Favre. Trump's running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, will target Blue Wall states with stops in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Contrasting Campaign Messages

Trump's campaign has been marked by a mix of economic messaging and controversial remarks. While ads highlighting his economic record aired during Sunday football broadcasts, Trump and his allies made inflammatory comments, including a derogatory remark about Puerto Rico. The backlash from these comments prompted responses from Harris, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, who expressed support for Harris.

The controversy surrounding the Trump rally coincided with Harris's visit to a Puerto Rican restaurant in Philadelphia, where she outlined her policy agenda for the island.
