Planned rail strikes that are expected to significantly impact the services to and from Twickenham Station could see Harlequins' Big Game 14 against Bristol Bears be moved from Twickenham Stadium to the club's regular home across the road The Stoop according to speculation online.
An alleged email posted into a Harlequins fan forum suggests the game is set to be moved, with the club's home game against Exeter Chiefs on March 3 becoming the new Big Game event on March 4. The problem is more than 70,000 tickets for the showpiece event in December have already been sold with The Stoop only able to seat 14,816 fans.
The official statement released by Harlequins tonight reads:
"The club is aware of speculation around Big Game 14 on 27 December at Twickenham stadium in light of the current RMT industrial action.
"We are working closely with the RFU, Premiership Rugby, South Western Railway and other key stakeholders to understand the potential impact on the planned Big Game event day and we will communicate to our supporters and ticket holders tomorrow (Thursday, December 15)."
