Happy Valley viewers have come up with a clever theory on how Tommy Lee Royce really got hold of Ryan's gaming username.
This Sunday, the BBC drama will come to an end and fans have been taking to social media to speculate on what might happen in the final plot line.
Many reckon that there will be a grand showdown between Sergeant Catherine Cawood (played by Sarah Lancashire) and Tommy (James Norton) after he notoriously escaped from court and went on the run.
Catherine and her family, including grandson Ryan, have not been able to return home until Tommy has been found by police.
Fans think that there might be a few surprising twists in the finale, as one scene in the last episode may have given a hint.
Tommy cleverly got in touch with his son Ryan (Rhys Connah) whilst in hiding through his games console. The pair spoke over instant message before chatting over their headsets.
Ryan asked his dad how he got his username and Tommy said Ryan told him it "ages ago" but Ryan didn't seem to particularly remember telling him.
Viewers think that it was actually his great-aunt's boyfriend Neil Ackroyd (Con O'Neill) who gave him the details.
One fan tweeted: "I bet Neil gave Tommy Ryan's gaming handle. I'm convinced he has more to do with it".
Whilst another added "Might Tommy have been able to contact Ryan via the game cos it was Neil who shared his ID? Ryan didn't recall sharing that info with him."
Another said: "Tommy said he'd memorised Ryan's gamer tag but did Neil give it him?" In response, one viewer said: "Good pick up! Ryan seemed sure that he hadn't given it to him".
One tweeted: "Ooh, this is a good theory [...] Maybe Neil has got some connection to Tommy?!"
Some fans even suggested that Neil might be Tommy's dad.
One wrote: "Anyone else thinking Neil is Tommy's dad?"
Another penned: "Got a horrible feeling Neil is Tommy Lee Royce's dad. [...] Would explain why he was taking Ryan to see him," said another. One added: "Still convinced Neil is Tommy's dad".
While one tweeted: "I wonder whether Neil [is] Tommy's father? It kind of makes sense." And one wrote: "Neil's pulling the strings all along".
Another theory some fans came up with was that Neil targeted Clare Cartwright (Siobhan Finneran) to become part of Ryan's family.
Some say that may be the reason he was willing to take Ryan to visit Tommy in prison and could explain his chance encounter with Clare.
One viewer said: "Neil bumping into Claire in the earlier series was definitely orchestrated". Another similarly questioned whether the character had "targeted" Claire.
Another said on the platform recently: "I've never trusted his intentions. There's got to be a big plot twist somewhere with him encouraging Ryan to see his dad in prison".
The Happy Valley finale will air on Sunday night (February 5) on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 9pm.
