Sergeant Catherine Cawood got her retirement, and was preparing to go off in in Land Rover, but that wasn't before solving one last crime. And it wasn't even linked to Tommy Lee Royce.
As she packed up her belongings in a cardboard box as her retirement party continued in the background, she helped Detective Superintendent Andy Shepherd fill in the blanks in the case of murdered mum Joanna Hepworth.
He told her: "Royce and Darius Knežević in one day, most people just bough out quietly on their last day."

But there was still Joanna's murder left to solve, with police not convinced it was her abusive husband, PE teacher Rob Hepworth.
Catherine told the DS: "I have some intel for you that might not be relevant. There is a friend of mine, you know Alison Garrs, found out her probation officers get knock-off Diazepam, so I asked her to find out where she gets them from.
"She said she wouldn't, but she did. She gets them this little fella in Elland, a pharmacist that has a shop near them flats where that lass died. Interesting thing is I did a few checks. He is called Faisal Bhatti.
"And guess what? He lives not 100 yards up the road from the Hepworth's house."
The detective races off, presumably to solve the murder.
Some fans were not entirely satisfied with this outcome. Former Strictly contestant Rev Richard Coles, who is a big fan of the show, said: "I would have liked IDEALLY a two hour final episode of #HappyValley with more time to resolve the Rob/Joanna/Faisal sub-plot. It felt a bit like that moment in Shakespeare when a minor character comes on and says “the king hath just slain the queen, but what were you saying?”"
Others thought it was the right way. Shaun Kitchener wrote on Twitter: "I love that the evil men’s fates didn’t even need to be shown. Darius? Busted off-screen. Faisal? Arrested off-screen. That Hepworth p***k? Charged off-screen. And Tommy Lee Royce? Tried to die on-screen but ultimately bumped off via text. Glorious."
Actor Amit Shah, who played Faisal, told BBC Breakfast on Monday morning that while he was aware what was gong to happen to his character, he had not been told much else.
He said: "I was aware what was going to happen to my character, but the scenes involving other characters were taken out of my version of the script. It didn't affect my journey so I wasn't aware with it."
