Hakim Ziyech personally texted Todd Boehly as he desperately tried to get his PSG switch over the line.
The Chelsea forward has struggled for minutes throughout his time in west London and was looking for a way out with a switch to Paris on the cards. Steps were being made to take Ziyech to the Parc des Princes but the deadline for lodging the paperwork was missed.
Ziyech was in the French capital by midday on deadline day as the deal was finalised. By 9.40pm the move was given the go ahead and PSG sent Chelsea their agreement - which needed to be signed and sent over to the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP).
With time ticking down Ziyech, who was keen to reunite with compatriot Achraf Hakimi, ended up texting the Chelsea owner as he was desperate to speed up the process, according to the Athletic.
PSG's agreement was met with radio silence when they sent it over to the Blues who, after several phone calls, could not be reached, which scuppered the loan move late on. Sky Sports has reported that Chelsea received the loan agreement pre-deadline - they signed it and sent the email back, but later discovered that it failed to deliver because of an "unforeseen technical issue".
A source has described Chelsea as “a circus” before then adding “actually, make that a Class A circus.” PSG have appealed to the LFP with Chelsea sending an account of the events of the previous night to support any late hopes of getting Ziyech's move over the line, but they proved unsuccessful.

Parisian boss Christophe Galtier has said: "For various reasons, we could not make it work with the player we targeted. I'm satisfied with the squad we had at the start of the season.
"Unfortunately, we could have reinforced it following the departure of Pablo (Sarabia). We could not do it. I believe that the responsibility does not lie with our club. That's how it is, that's life, we look ahead."
Ziyech has been left fuming by the failure and will now head back to Stamford Bridge, where his minutes could be further hampered due to the signings made by Chelsea this month. The Blues spent big to add Mykhaylo Mudryk, whilst Joao Felix has come in on loan and Noni Madueke - another winger - has signed from PSV.
Ziyech has only played in 10 games for the Blues in the league this term - the least of any forward in the squad. Chelsea's new arrivals are only likely to lessen the Moroccan's minutes with the west Londoners only in two of the four competitions they begun the season in.
