As screenwriters across the country go on strike for the first time in 15 years, it won’t just be writers’ rooms that are empty. Without writers, studios must postpone or shut down productions, bringing shows off the air and affecting virtually every profession in the TV and film industry, from cinematographers to caterers, with effects rippling out to the broader economy.
