H&M selling 'anti-chafe' stick ideal for summer festivals and walks

The British public has a love-hate relationship with hot weather, but one undeniable downside is the impact on your skin. If you've got an active day with lots of walking or a sports event, the combination of bare legs and heat can cause uncomfortable chafing.

It can make beach days far less enjoyable, especially when salt and sand are thrown into the mix, and it can also be an issue at summer festivals when there's lots of walking. With Glastonbury just over one week away, many fans are drawing up their packing list and looking for a solution that's lightweight enough to carry around with them.

H&M is selling one option as part of its new OHH! (Oh Hey Hero) bodycare range, which it describes as a "collection of 10 everyday vegan essentials from a frictionless razor through to a body moisturiser". One of the items is the Little Champ Moisturising Stick, priced at £6.99 for 50ml.

The product listing states: "Tell chafe to check itself at the door. A vegan moisturising stick that helps prevent skin friction while locking in moisture with shea butter and sunflower oil.

"Glide product directly onto skin to prevent dry skin and chafing. Apply wherever you usually experience problems with dry skin or friction, repeating as often as necessary."

One customer wrote in the review section: "Better than more expensive [chafe] balms. Has saved me from having to wear shorts under all my dresses."

Another online reviewer likened it to the award-winning Megababe Thigh Rescue anti-friction stick, which has rave reviews on Cult Beauty but is currently sold out. Decathlon is also selling an anti-chafing stick, priced at £5.99 for 25g, with hundreds of people recommending it in the reviews section.

One downside of the stick-format products is the need to carry them around in case a top-up is required. For those who prefer to wear a pair of shorts under their outfit instead, M&S is selling a two-pack of 'anti-chafe shorts' for £20.

They come in seven colours and claim to "eliminate chafing and static while shaping your silhouette". One reviewer wrote: "Fabulous so comfy and great for the summer under dress and skirts bought them in three colours now." However, another said they were too short and rolled up.
