We all have different skill sets in life. For example, some people might be good at all the technological stuff and very successful in their work life but lack social communication abilities, creating obstacles when it comes to doing something like finding a partner.
In the past, everybody would have to figure out how to deal with this, but now, with all these AIs only a few clicks away, some people choose the easy way and let the machine talk for them. However, as one Redditor shared, while it might help break the ice, if you choose this path, you have to commit to keeping the secret. Once he admitted to his ex-girlfriend about doing something like this, her reaction was far from favorable. Scroll down to read the full story!

The girl was shocked and upset, ending the call abruptly and blocking the guy soon after
A 27-year-old who describes himself as a ‘tech nerd’ has always found it difficult to talk to women. One day, he decided to try an AI dating bot to see if it could get any results. He was very surprised with how successful this plan was because soon he was talking to an amazing girl he found a great connection with.
However, a little while later, ridden with guilt, he decided to open up and tell her the truth about using the AI for all the messages he sent to her in the very beginning. This left the girl shocked and upset, leading to an abruptly ended call.
The guy still tried reaching her in any way that he could, but he soon found himself blocked. Feeling desperate, he then came online, sharing his misfortune and looking for advice.
The people in the comment section weren’t very positive toward him either. While some did offer a few supportive words, most were telling him that this was what he should’ve expected, comparing his situation to a South Park episode or a friend writing messages for him.

Artificial Intelligence has become a bigger and bigger thing in our world and is unavoidably invading our lives, with dating being no exception. The effects will be felt by everyone looking for a partner online. However, while this is still new, the question is, what can we expect?
Igor Khalatian of Forbes advocates for this idea, saying that AI will revolutionize online dating. According to the author, some of the most important qualities are authenticating user-profiles and significantly more accurate and personalized matchmaking algorithms, to the point where swiping would be a thing of the past. The machine would out our perfect matches and leave us to take it from there.
Of course, it doesn’t have to stop there. Some dating apps already use AI to suggest conversation starters, making it easier to get the talk going if you don’t know what to say. And if that’s not enough, there are also some AI-powered dating chatbots that can carry entire conversations, similar to what the OP used.

On the other hand, Carrie Prince of Medium identified a few issues with this new trend. The author theorized that if we get used to the fake versions of us doing all of the more difficult dating parts, we will eventually lose confidence and develop low self-esteem, not really being able to be ourselves around our partner.
Another thing that is happening right now is people using AI to enhance their pictures, creating a fake sense of perfection and trying to sell themselves for who they’re not. With how fast AI is progressing on this front, it’s getting harder and harder to identify what’s real and what is fake, not knowing what to expect when you actually meet the person.
At the same time, it goes back to the very same confidence issue because if people go through such trouble to hide their insecurities, they will feel even more vulnerable when they have to meet in person and can’t use filters to hide.
Lastly, it’s all about building rapport. No matter how perfectly realistic your AI bot’s chatting ability might be, it’s still not you. Therefore, the other person is only getting to know a version of you, while you don’t get to know them at all. You might read through all the conversations and try to memorize them, but even then, the experience will never be real, and the same goes for the connection.
Ultimately, AI is a great tool that can help in many aspects of our lives, including dating. However, the key word here is “tool” because if we get it to do everything for us, it might as well live our lives for us, too. Except, what will we do then? After all, life is just as much about the journey as it is about the destination, and giving up half of it for comfort can easily leave you hollow and, in the case of dating, single, just like what happened to the OP.
