A 22-year-old Gutti Koya tribal woman Maoist of the banned CPI Maoist on Saturday surrendered before the East Godavari police.
At a press conference here, East Godavari SP M. Raveendranath Babu said that Madakam Idumamma alias Latha joined the CPI Maoist party in 2016. She is a native of Pega panchayat in Chintoor agency in East Godavari district.
Ms. Idumamma was a Dalam Member of Charla-Sabari Area Committee and member of Local Operation Squad (LOS) . She carried a 303 rifle. She also served as Deputy Commander of the LOS for one year. She did not participate in any exchange of fire, according to police.
"The government will ensure all the benefits to Ms. Idumamma as per the existing guidelines," said Mr. Raveendranath Babu.
