Manchester United fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure at Mason Mount being given the iconic No.7 shirt ahead of Alejandro Garnacho.
After being pictured at Carrington on two occasions earlier this week, it was no surprise to see Mount officially announced as a Reds player on Wednesday. After putting pen to paper on a five-year deal, the 24-year-old said: "It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career.
"Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies. Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead and am ready for the hard work expected here."

However, what was a surprise was to see Mount be given the No.7 shirt which has been worn by legends of the club including David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo. It had been expected Garnacho would be handed the number in a vote of confidence from Ten Hag.
Instead, Mount has taken on the number as well as the pressure associated with the shirt. This surprising news has not gone down well with United supporters who were keen for the youngster to receive an upgrade.
Taking to Twitter, the fanbase made their feelings clear.
