Gulls dominate TRNSMT skyline swooping over heads of punters in scrounge for food

Scotland’s sky scavengers have returned to TRNSMT for a second day, swooping over the heads of punters in the festival’s food area for a chance at a free meal.

A flock of seagulls has been hanging over the festival’s Big Feed zone and seizing any loose drops of scran at the first opportunity. While they haven’t snatched anyone’s food from their hands, the birds are waiting barely a few seconds before descending on discarded meals for a bite.

The Big Feed zone at TRNSMT features good producers from all over Scotland showcasing top quality food - far from the traditional festival fare of chips and battered meats. Instead, festivalgoers can gorge themselves on falafel wraps, artisan venison burgers and loaded fries - with options for discerning vegans and those on gluten-free diets.

For those less inclined towards craft pizza and halloumi pittas, McDonalds has its own unique take on the classic burger van. But for the second day in a row the outlet was closed before 6.30pm - after hungry Scots scoffed their way through the trailer’s entire inventory.

A sign on the van reads: “We are sold out today - we will be back tomorrow.”

Day two of TRNSMT 2022 will close out with The Strokes on the Main Stage, preceded by up and coming rockers The Snuts and Wet Leg as well as rapper Example. The early hours of the festival were plagued by complaints from punters who said they waited more than three hours to get inside - missing some of the earlier acts.

The chaos has led to calls for partial refunds. TRNSMT organisers have apologised but have not commented on whether those who missed out on acts like CVC, Dylan and Griff.
