GANDHINAGAR: A jubilant state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going all out to accord a rousing welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is visiting home state Gujarat today after leading the saffron party to a resounding victory in UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur assembly elections.
Lakhs of partymen will congregate for the victory roadshow which will be led by the PM from the airport to BJP headquarters 'Shri Kamalam' in Koba, Gandhinagar. The roadshow on Friday is being showcased as the BJP's national celebration of its spectacular performance in the polls.
More importantly, the BJP is looking to set the ball rolling in its build-up to the Gujarat assembly election with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit. The PM's massive roadshow and his presiding over a mega rally of elected panchayat representatives numbering close to 2 lakh is being projected as the BJP sounding the Gujarat assembly election bugle.
The state BJP headquarters will witness hectic parleys on Friday afternoon as PM Modi will chart out the party's strategy to retain power in Gujarat even after an uninterrupted 24-year long stint in the state.
The PM will hold a meeting with CM Bhupendra Patel and cabinet of ministers, state BJP president CR Paatil and other top office-bearers to kickstart the party machinery to wrest another victory for the party in the state.
A giant 'rangoli' of the PM was being given final touches on Thursday. Elsewhere, along the route from the airport to Kamalam, stages were set up. Scores of buses full of supporters will arrive in Ahmedabad from different parts of the state for the roadshow.
Security personnel - both from the Centre and state - carried out rehearsals on the routes which PM Modi will take during his two-day visit.
Top BJP sources said the PM could meet top RSS functionaries including sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. Coincidentally, Bhagwat and other top RSS leaders will also be in Ahmedabad to attend the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the RSS.
