RAJKOT: Still recuperating from the suspension bridge tragedy that killed 135 on October 30, Morbi handed a victory to former BJP MLA Kanti Amrutiya who had displayed valour by plunging into Machchhu river to save lives.
Amrutiya trounced Congress candidate Jayanti Patel by a huge margin of 62,079 votes.
The turnout here was expectedly less at 67.16% compared to 75% in 2017 with people still in mourning.
