Guinness combines world-famous stout with cold brew coffee for latest innovation

Iconic stout Guinness has combined its unique flavour with the satisfying flavour of a freshly-brewed espresso for its innovative Cold Brew Coffee Beer. The combination was launched in the USA last year, but it's now available for UK drinkers.

There's no mistaking the tempting aroma of a strong coffee as soon as the beer is poured. It is an ideal drink for Guinness fans, as well as those who may not previously have considered enjoying a pint of the black stuff - particularly as Britons have recently named coffee as their number one drink, overtaking tea with 95 million cups of consumed each day.

It is produced using coffee which has been steeped in cool water for long periods of time instead of brewed with boiling water, The coffee is added to Guinness Draught, alongside additional roasted barley flavours, to balance delicate notes of delicious coffee, chocolate and caramel from the first sip to the last.

Each can contains approximately 2mg of caffeine, the same as a decaf coffee, and is best served ice cold. It is available in most supermarkets and off-licence stores.

John Burns, head of Guinness GB, said: “We firmly believe we have created a taste experience truly unrivalled in the market and with over 95 million cups of coffee being consumed every day in Great Britain alone, now is the moment to offer a product which plays to an excitingly vast consumer space. There is already a natural connection with coffee notes in Guinness signature offerings like Draught and Extra Stout, so the creation of Cold Brew Coffee Beer was a perfect match.”
