New Tottenham signing Guglielmo Vicario has chosen to take the No.13 shirt following his transfer from Empoli. The 26-year-old becomes Ange Postecoglou's second signing since taking over as manager after the option to purchase Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent basis was taken up earlier this month.
Vicario joins the club on a five-year contract for a reported £16.3million transfer fee and is likely being considered as the long-term successor to Hugo Lloris who has hinted he wishes depart the club this summer. Juventus, Inter Milan, Napoli, Bayern Munich and Manchester United had all scouted the Italian shot-stopper, but Spurs have won the race for his signature.
David Raya was seen as the primary target to recruit in between the sticks but Brentford's £40million asking price, for a player with one year left on his contract, was deemed too high by Spurs. However, the Lilywhites look to have secured a transfer steal with the signing of a goalkeeper dubbed by Gianluigi Buffon as someone who "is doing things out of the ordinary".
