Gucci turned Times Square into a runway on a Saturday night in May, and Demna's cruise 2027 collection made the most of it. The house shut down a stretch of Broadway between 46th and 48th Streets, letting every billboard normally shilling ads flip over to a live feed of the show instead. It was Demna's first cruise outing since taking over as creative director, following a fall/winter 2026 debut that had already signaled a shift toward something glossier and more provocative for the brand often nicknamed GucciCore.
The setting did a lot of the storytelling. Times Square is loud, a little chaotic, unmistakably New York, and Demna leaned into that friction rather than smoothing it over. The collection read as a study in contrasts: feathered, architectural gowns next to slick trench coats and slim suiting that could pass for something a commuter might wear a few blocks over on Fifth Avenue. Cindy Crawford walked in a dramatic feathered look, Alex Consani wore a sheer cape dress, and Maria Carla Bosconi appeared in a one-shouldered piece dripping in feathers. Elsewhere on the runway, dark denim and tailored coats kept things grounded, a reminder that the vision behind Gucci Cruise 2027 was never just about spectacle.
