Grieving Lothian pensioner has £2,000 in pension money stolen by Amazon scammers

A grieving Scots widow has been left distressed after scammers stole more than £2,000 from her bank account while posing as Amazon staff.

68-year-old Margaret Eggett received a text from an unknown number telling her she had made a payment to Amazon of nearly £80.

The pensioner, who lives on her own in Livingston after her husband died last year, phoned the number to query the payment because she doesn’t have an Amazon account.
