A number of urgent product recalls have been issued with consumers urged to check their cupboards and not to use the items.
The warnings which have been collated by the Food Standards Agency includes Greggs Chicken Bakes, Lidl Czech lager, Tesco soup and Barr’s IRN-BRU. The Greggs alert says pieces of hard plastic could have contaminated the product, metal shards could be in the Tesco soup and the IRN-Bru bottle tops can fly off causing injury.

Greggs Chicken bakes
Greggs has issued an urgent recall on a popular product after it was found it could contain chunks of plastic. The popular bakery chain has warned customers not to eat chicken bakes sold in Iceland with a particular best before date.
Chicken bakes which have a September 19 best before date should not be eaten. There are fears the product - the pack containing two bakes which weighs 306g - could be contaminated with hard and dark pieces of plastic and therefore bring a choking risk.
A warning issued via the Food Standards Agency website read: “Greggs recalls Greggs frozen 2 pack Chicken Bake, sold exclusively in Iceland stores, because some packs have been found to contain pieces of hard plastic.
“Greggs is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all Iceland stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
People can return the products to Iceland for a refund and do not need to present a receipt. The warning added: “If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
Greggs apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers. Chicken bakes sold fresh in Greggs stores are still fine to eat.
