Greggs customers are fuming because sausage rolls are becoming more expensive.
The popular item in both is meaty and vegan form is set to undergo a price increase of 5p while other items on the menu will be hiked up between 5 to 10 per cent.
Before if you had £1 in your pocket you could easily exchange it for the meat-filled (or vegan meat filled) pastry, but now you will need to scrabble around in your pocket to look for an extra 5p since £1.05 is the new price.
With this information fresh in their minds, people took to Twitter to express their dismay:

A spokesperson for the bakery chain told Bloomberg why this devastating incident is happening. They said: “Ingredients and labour costs have been rising and Greggs is not immune from that.
“The company does absorb some of the cost but has put up prices by about 5-10 pence across the range.”
Meanwhile, they explained that the decision was made after an end of year review and said Greggs last raised its prices in December 2020, by a similar amount, but stressed that it remained “good value”.
Not a great sign for how 2022 is going to play out.
