The Greens are celebrating a historic win in Gorton and Denton, where Hannah Spencer won Thursday’s by-election by an unexpectedly large margin.

Not only does it mark the first time the party has won a by-election for a seat in the House of Commons, it also gives the Greens their first-ever parliamentary seat in the north of England.
