Granit Xhaka has highlighted a 'new' and 'different' mentality behind Arsenal's sensational start to the season. The Gunners made it six wins from their first seven Premier League games with a dominant 3-0 victory over Brentford.
Xhaka starred in the Gunners' comfortable victory in west London, providing a sublime cross which was headed home by Gabriel Jesus. William Saliba and full Premier League debutant Fabio Vieira were also on the score sheet as Arsenal climbed back to the top of the table.
Much of the media coverage in the build-up to the game was about the repeat fixture last season. Arsenal travelled to Brentford for the opening match of the 2021/22 campaign and they were convincingly defeated 2-0, which resulted in them receiving heavy criticism in the press.

However, there were no signs of a similar outcome this time with Arsenal in control throughout the 90 minutes. The Switzerland international believes Arsenal's changed mentality is the reason for their much-improved performances and results.
"You see the new and different mentality we have this season," Xhaka told Sky Sports.
"We had a great chance after one minute with [Gabriel] Martinelli, and if we score we start the game well, but we keep going.
"We are working each other and we are training like we play as well. We have the class as well with individual players making a difference, and today you saw that."
