Grange Hill actress Gwyneth Powell dies age 76 after complications from operation

Gwyneth Powell has died aged 76 following complications from an operation, her agent has confirmed.

The actress, who was best known for playing headmistress Mrs McClusky in the BBC show Grange Hill, died peacefully with her husband by her side last Thursday in Brighton.

Her agent Matthew Lacey said in a statement on behalf of the family that she died “after complications following a major operation for a perforated colon.”
