R Praggnanandhaa was unable to improve his position and remained at the bottom of the leaderboard as the Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz chess tournament approached its final day. However, he did manage to secure a couple of victories in the blitz section prior to that.
Despite defeating pre-tournament favorites Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia and Hikaru Nakamura of the US, as well as drawing with tournament leader Alireza Firouzja of France, Praggnanandhaa suffered losses in the remaining six games of the first leg of blitz. These results kept him at the bottom of the standings with only nine rounds left to play in the blitz section.
