A gran stole over £46,000 from her sleeping husband to send to her US 'boyfriend' - who turned out to be a scammer.
Patricia Passman, known as Tricia, thought she had found love after connecting with the man online, Hull Live reports. However, after sending him money and Amazon vouchers - amounting to £46,700 - the 59-year-old discovered that she herself was a victim of fraud.
Tim, her estranged husband of 40-years, has been left in financial ruin following the thefts. Appearing at Teesside Crown Court, Passman was handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting to stealing funds from two bank accounts.
