The best album winner turned up in a strapless Schiaparelli gown paired with black gloves which rivetingly was the doppelganger of Kate Middleton’s (somewhat polarising) Alexander McQueen look at last year’s Baftas.
The princess did hers with a lovingly thrown out paean to the plebs with a pair of Zara earrings. Swift was drenched in 300 carats of Lorraine Schwartz diamonds - including a slightly strange vintage watch fashioned into a choker (ultra-Swifties noted that the watch was set to midnight - the album she won for last night). Was the singer sending a subliminal get well soon message to the princess?
The chronically online might look at it as a move to adopt a more diplomatic fashion bat-signal to the US election campaign. Perhaps next Sunday’s Super Bowl will bring out Swift’s inner-Twickenham aesthetic leanings.
