Chelsea have not been shy in the January transfer market and added two attacking players to their ranks in the last seven days. Mykhailo Mudryk was presented to supporters during the Blues' win over Crystal Palace, while Noni Madueke's transfer from PSV was confirmed on the eve of Chelsea's trip to Anfield.
The latter was not signed in time to make the first team squad, while the former made his debut in the second half of the draw against Liverpool. Mudryk joined in training earlier in the week but was unable to complete 90 minutes having not played competitive football since November.
The Ukraine international put in an impressive second half cameo to solidify his place among the Chelsea ranks. Graham Potter's new duo will have no shortage of competition in the forward positions with Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech starting on the wings against Jurgen Klopp's side and Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling to return from injury. There is even the potential for the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka to play such a role.

Potter is not too concerned by the volume of players he will have to pick from, though it is set to cause some problems for his Champions League squad. The 47-year-old knows it will be a balance.
He said in his press conference following Chelsea's draw: "There are always slight problems that are picked up in terms of injuries, so you have to adjust to that. But I think stability helps the team. We have to be as stable as we can but at the same time acknowledge the competition we have in the group and the squad. So it’s a balance of the two."
In fact, it is to produce competition that the 20-year-old Madueke has been brought in.
He added: "Now I can speak about him because he’s a Chelsea player. He’s an exciting player and brings a left-footed attacking option for us and competition in that area of the pitch."
Mudryk has ensured it will be no easy task for Madueke to immediately find his place in Chelsea's side however, and a number of established Chelsea stars will be looking over their shoulders. They may be thankful that he was not yet match-fit.
Potter said of the debutant: "No [he couldn't start], he's not played since November. Hasn't had any game time. It would've been a risk. He'll get better the more he is with us.
"They're top players. Sometimes people think us coaches turn top players into top players. But Mudryk, Joao, they understand the game. It's just fine-turning it a bit."
